Keeping Carers Connected

Carers are seven times more likely to say they are always or often lonely than the general public. 8 in 10 carers report having felt lonely or isolated as a result of their caring role (Carers UK 2019). Carers can also quickly become disconnected from their local communities. Read more about the work we do to keep carers connected to each other, as well as to their community, ensuring they feel supported as they face the challenges caring can bring.

Gill & Michael talk about their local carer cafe

Gill, 76, attends one of the cafes regularly with her husband and carer Michael. “We have met people that we haven’t seen for years. I met a lady and she recognised me; we had not seen one another since we were five
years old. It’s just such a happy place to go, and we look forward to going.”
